Estas fotos muestran a Alejandro preparándose una tostada de aceite con tomate rallado. Además de que el hecho de cortar y rallar un tomate es en sí mismo una actividad de Vida Práctica muy recomendable y de que él se siente independiente al poder prepararse él solo algo para comer, en este caso Alejandro aprendió algo más, ya que ese tomate lo habíamos cultivado nosotros mismos en nuestra terraza, y él participó desde el momento de plantar los planteles, luego en el riego, estuvo presente cuando la planta floreció, cuando empezaron a formarse los frutos, y por supuesto cuando los pequeños tomates se volvieron de color rojo se encargó de recolectarlos.

Así que se puede decir que Alejandro recorrió todo el camino del tomate desde la tomatera hasta la mesa, y aprendió que lo que comemos no aparece en el plato sin más, ni siquiera aparece en el supermercado como salido de la nada, sino que los alimentos vienen de la tierra, o del mar, y que detrás de ellos hay tiempo y esfuerzo, y lo más importante y sin lo cual no sería posible la vida: el agua y la luz del sol.

Tal vez penséis que todo esto es muy profundo, que un niño de 3 años (ahora tiene 4 pero las fotos son del verano pasado) seguramente no va a sacar todas esas conclusiones por sí mismo. Pero la mente de los niños pequeños es increíble, es una mente científica que absorbe datos y los convierte en conocimientos; tal vez parezca que en ese momento el niño no ha aprendido nada, pero cuando más tarde se encuentre de nuevo con esa información en un libro, en un documental, o en el colegio, seguro que la entenderá a la primera.

Por cierto, el cuchillo que utiliza Alejandro en las fotos es el que comenté en este post, nos encanta!

These photos show Alejandro making a toast with grated tomato and olive oil. Besides the fact that cutting and grating a tomato is in itself a highly recommended Practical Life activity and how independent he feels to be able to prepare something to eat himself , in this case Alejandro learned something else, since we had that tomato cultivated ourselves on our deck, and he was involved from the time of planting, then the watering, he was present when the plant bloomed, when the flowers began to form the fruit, and of course when the small tomatoes turned red he harvested them.

So it can be said that Alejandro went all the way from the tomato to the table, and learned that what we eat does not appear on the plate without just like that, it does not even appear in the supermarket, but food come from the earth or the sea, and behind them there is time and effort, and most importantly without which life would not be possible: water and sunlight.

You might think that all this is very deep and a 3 year old probably will not get all these conclusions for himself. But the mind of young children is incredible, is a scientific mind that absorbs and converts data into knowledge. It may seem at the time the child has not learned anything, but when that information is back later in a book, a documentary, or at school, he will surely understand it better.
